Dr. Eric Anderson, MD, PhD, MBA, FAAN, has always been drawn to the complexity and mystery of the human brain. With a grandfather who was a neurosurgeon and a family deeply interested in the pathology of the nervous system, his passion for neuroscience was instilled at a young age. His connection to neurology became even more personal as he witnessed family members navigate dementia.

Driven by curiosity and compassion, Dr. Anderson set out to make a lasting impact in the field of neurology. His career has been shaped by a relentless drive to innovate and improve patient care, leading him to become a trailblazer in telehealth.

Throughout his clinical career, Dr. Anderson saw firsthand how difficult it was for families to access care. His own family’s experience with in-person care—navigating long wait times, complex referrals, and the logistical challenges of travel—mirrored what he saw in his patients. For individuals with neurodegenerative diseases and their caregivers, these obstacles often delay critical interventions and make ongoing care unnecessarily burdensome. Dr. Anderson believed that failing to address these barriers was, in his words, “unethical.” If the existing healthcare system made access difficult, then care delivery itself needed to evolve.

Recognizing that technology had the potential to bridge these gaps, Dr. Anderson became an early pioneer in telehealth. He immersed himself in the work at a pivotal moment—the launch of the iPhone 4 and its FaceTime capabilities. Recognizing the potential for remote care, he conducted groundbreaking research proving that stroke assessments via smartphone could match the effectiveness of large, costly machines.

This early work caught the attention of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and led him to collaborate with leading organizations to shape the future of national telemedicine initiatives. Over the years, he has led efforts to scale virtual neurology programs, managing large teams, integrating new technologies, and shaping policy discussions on telemedicine best practices. Over the years, he has continued to redefine how neurological care is delivered, designing innovative telehealth models that make expert care more accessible, equitable, and patient-centered.

As the Chief Medical Officer at Synapticure, Dr. Anderson has built a robust virtual care model from the ground up. His leadership expanded Synapticure’s reach to all 50 states, integrating a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, therapists, genetic counselors, mental health professionals, and more to provide comprehensive care and treatment from the comfort of home. With a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 92, his patient-first approach ensures that those living with neurodegenerative diseases receive expert care tailored to their unique needs.

Motivated to democratize access to high-quality care and treatment, Dr. Anderson continues to innovate and advance virtual care, making world-class neurology accessible to everyone—no matter where they live.
